Barclay Toys - Transports and Cars, Book with Detailed Descriptions and Toy Prices of Vintage Toys, Toy Cars for Every Toy Collector, by Schiffer Publishing, Authors-Howard W. Melton, Robert E. Wagner
Barclay Toys: Transports and Cars 1932-1971 is a collector's dream and a book that will delight every collector, toy dealer, and auction dealer. It is a detailed catalogue and price guide for the small sized auto transports and cars manufactured by Barclay Manufacturing between 1932 and 1971. The book includes background information, toy prices, detailed descriptions and over 100 colored pictures and drawings. While extremely popular with collectors and toy enthusiasts alike, this is the first book that examines these toys in depth. In contrast to many books for collectors, Barclay Toys: Transports & Cars 1932-1971 covers every known variation and color of each piece in the four separate series of these toys. The toys themselves were inexpensive, had great styling, and were very colorful. The toys were also very popular as reflected by their continuous production for 40 years. Production only ended when Barclay closed its doors. While most of the pieces seen are the more common varieties, there are many scarce and rare varieties and colors within the four series. This is the first time that most of these varieties and colors have ever been catalogued and priced. With few exceptions, neither the cabs nor trailers are identified by manufacturer or country of origin in any way and are frequently misattributed. This is a great book for collectors.
