Love Gone Live › Somethin's Goin' On
John David created Love Gone Live to let the music moving through him out into the world.
When John was 11, his neighbor’s house nearly burnt down, and the neighbors gave his family their piano to put in the basement, as it was somewhat charred, and the neighbors had no basement. This catalyzed a lifelong love of the piano, John's instrument of choice. The guitar also has a big place in his heart.
Major influences are the Beatles, Stevie Wonder, Steely Dan, the Police, J. S. Bach, Fats Waller, Louis Armstrong, and so many more. John's musical studies include two years at Temple University, and about two years with Gerald Price, a world-class jazz piano master.
Currently, John is teaching piano, writing, and recording his original music.
John's keyboard work and lead singing have appeared in various bands, performing both original and cover tunes (rock, R&B, jazz, funk, country, etc). Piano bars and numerous other solo gigs also make his list, as well as having been music director at a New Thought church, where he rewrote the lyrics of popular rock and R&B songs, giving them a spiritual twist.
Thanks to the wonders of multi-track recording, John David is a one-man band on the Grace Wave CD (except for Ben Zappin’s tenor sax riffs on “One And Only”). With the help of John's trusty Kurzweil PC2x synth, his playing, voice and songs make up the band. Most of the music is funky jazzy rock. Blues, jump swing, reggae, jazz and bossa nova are also represented. Harmonic inventiveness and vocal harmonies are prominent elements of the mix.
“Higher field of living rise, Love Gone Live,
in the heart that never dies, Love Gone Live.”
― chorus lyric of the band’s theme song
May love go live in your life. Why wait for the rehearsal?
