Housed in a 1920s bungalow, Period is a store and showroom
featuring custom-designed furniture and one-of-a-kind, restored
vintage furniture, accessories, and lighting designed and collected
by owners Jim Turner and Luis Barajas.
The collection of period-inspired furniture includes camel-hair
and velvet sofas, patent-leather and lacquered dining chairs,
silver metallic-leather side chairs, cashmere mirrored wingbacks,
and hand-gilt decoupage tablesall offered in various custom
finishes, woods, and an unlimited selection of fabrics.
In addition to the custom pieces is a series of laser-cut room
dividers and window ornaments in aluminum and wood, as well
as outdoor vintage furniture, refurbished and as found
aluminum and wrought outdoor dining sets, chaise lounges, and
seating. These unique pieces are unavailable anywhere else.
The collection developed as Turner began expanding his
award-winning, two-dimensional magazine design to the world of
custom furniture and interiors. As the Creative Director of Flaunt,
a publication whose prime objective is forecasting trends in
fashion and furniture design, architecture, and photography, the
transition was natural.
Influenced by classic 1940s designersJames Mont, Dorothy
Draper, Billy Haines, Frances Elkinsand architectsEames,
Breuer, Neutra, Schindler, Gill, and MorganTurner has
numerous projects under his well-researched renovation belt.
Most recently, Turner was contracted to design and furnish the
penthouse of Hollywoods historic El Royale apartments in a mix
of 1940s and custom pieces for a private residence.

will constantly change and evolve to forecast trends in furniture,
fabrics, lighting, and accessories for Los Angeles design
community and their clients.
