California Northwest is a well-established jurisdiction and is highly recognized throughout the Church of God In Christ (COGIC). The Church of God In Christ is a Church of the Lord Jesus Christ in which the word of God is preached, ordinances are administered and the doctrine of sanctification or holiness is emphasized, as being essential to the salvation of mankind. The California Northwest Jurisdiction is was founded in 1957 by Bishop Eugene Edward Hamilton and is currently lead by Bishop Wilburn Wyatt Hamilton. The Jurisdiction of California Northwest was organized on the platform of peace and harmony. The jurisdiction now has 25 District Superintendents and over 130 churches in cities from Bakersfield to Weed, California. Many of the Northwest churches have been organized for more than 50 years.
