It is a major day for the global celebration of women. In different regions across the globe the focus of the celebrations ranges from general celebrations of respect, appreciation and love towards women to a celebration of women's economic, political and social achievements., Through a video projection, we presented the action carried out by the Philippines YCW. They have been in contact with young people working as pedicab drivers since 2001. They launched a survey to discover the reality of those workers. As we can see from the testimony of one of those young workers, The self-immolation by Mohammad Bouazizi, an unemployed man (26 years of age) who was harassed by the police in the Tunisian town of Sidi Bouzid, on December 17, was the spark that ignited the Arab streets. It first started the Jasmine Revolution (jasmine is Tunisia's national flower) in Tunisia, and the President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali and his government had to go., The IYCW is calling on all national movements around the world to join in the centenary celebrations of the International Womens Day. They proclaim it as an opportunity not only to celebrate womens lives and achievements, but also to join hands in solidarity with women around the globe and to focus on the many problems women face today., Every year the International YCW promotes the celebration of the International Week of Young Workers (IWYW) from April 24th to May 1st. During that week young workers in different countries claim their rights and denounce the oppressing realities of youth through training activities and other events.
