Description: The concept of creating a European Society to promote education and research in the specialty of thoracic imaging emerged from a small group of European chest radiologists who met together in Grenoble in 1992. These people defined the objectives of such an organisation and the European Society of Thoracic Imaging (ESTI) was officially founded in 1993 in Luxembourg at the occasion of the founding meeting presided by Robert Dondelinger.
